Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026 · Effective for all users of the Cheq mobile application

Revolis Studio ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Cheq mobile application ("App," "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We have designed Cheq to be privacy-first: we collect as little personal data as possible, and almost all of your data stays on your own device. By downloading, installing, or using Cheq, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Privacy in one sentence: Cheq does not require an account, does not collect your name or location, stores your scans and preferences only on your device, and never sells your data to anyone.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

1.3 Camera and Image Data

When you use the scan feature, the App captures an image of a product's ingredient label using your device camera. This image is transmitted securely over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection to Google's Gemini API, a third-party artificial intelligence service, for the sole purpose of reading and analyzing the ingredient text.

Important: Scanned images are processed in real time and are NOT stored on our servers. We do not keep a database of your scanned images. The image is sent for analysis, the result is returned to your device, and the image is discarded. We have no ability to view your scanned images.

1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

1.5 Optional Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only the basic authentication information necessary to create your session (such as a unique account identifier, and the name and email associated with that sign-in method, as provided by Google or Apple). This is used solely to authenticate you. You may use the App in guest mode without signing in.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information described above solely to:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, behavioral targeting, or sale to any third party. We do not build advertising profiles of you.

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local-Only Storage

Your allergen profile, scan history, favorites, language, and theme preferences are stored exclusively on your device using secure on-device storage. Sensitive authentication tokens are stored using your device's encrypted secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). We do not operate servers that store your scan history or personal preferences. Your data is isolated per user on your device, so different users of the same device cannot see each other's data.

3.2 Third-Party AI Processing

When you scan a label, the image is transmitted over an encrypted connection to Google's Gemini API for analysis. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing Google's privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy.

3.3 Security Measures

We use industry-standard security measures, including TLS/SSL encryption for all network communication and encrypted secure storage for sensitive tokens. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Third-Party Services

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties and encourage you to review their policies.

5. Children's Privacy

Cheq is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

6. Data Retention and Your Control

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you remain in full control at all times:

7. Your Privacy Rights

Regardless of where you live, you can access, modify, and delete your data directly within the App at any time, and withdraw consent by uninstalling the App.

7.1 EEA, UK, and Swiss Users (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR, including rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

7.2 Turkish Users (KVKK)

If you are in Turkey, your personal data is protected under Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK). You have the right to learn whether your data is processed, request information about the processing, learn its purpose, know any third parties to whom data is transferred, request correction or deletion, object to outcomes resulting solely from automated analysis, and seek compensation for damages from unlawful processing.

7.3 California Users (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information.

8. International Data Transfers

When you scan a label, image data may be transferred to and processed on servers operated by Google, which may be located outside your country of residence (including the United States). These transfers are necessary to provide the App's core functionality. By using the scan feature, you consent to such transfers. Where required by law, appropriate safeguards apply.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by providing notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
